Direct Assistance 

CVEM is often able to help with such basic needs such as rent, gasoline, medications, driver's licenses, school needs and scholarships.

Volunteers are needed in the Columbus Office, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (9:00AM - 12 PM) to hear situations, share resources

Peace & Justice Group

Meeting Monthly, this group seeks to explore the meaning of peace and justice in one's life as a Christian.  Recently,  the group studied Georgia's death penalty.  All religious organizations are welcomed at the table. Contact: Terry Followill at 706-322-1790 or mailto:tdfollowill@bellsouth.net

 

Thompson-Pound Art Program (TAP)

Sixty children ages six to twelve attend this multicultural, interfaith summer arts program to develop tolerance and understanding of people from different cultures and religions. Teenagers are trained to mentor small groups, guiding them through the week's program. The art mobile Unity Peace from 2005 "Ten Years of TAP: Exploring Opportunities for Hope", hangs in the rotunda of the Columbus Public Library. Beallwood Area Neighborhood Development Inc (BAND)

CVEM partners with this grassroots organization in the Beallwood area of North Columbus to promote new housing, develop leadership and sponsor youth activities. The BAND Community Center is located at 5001 12th Avenue. Presently BAND offers after-school homework assistance and tutoring to neighborhood children, supervised by two part-time youth directors, and volunteers.
