CVEM is an outreach ministry sponsored by the Chattahoochee Valley Convocation of the Diocese of Atlanta

Serving and standing beside people in need for 27 years, CVEM has been referred to as a model for convocational outreach ministry. Direct economic assistance remains the focus of Ministry Work. Other primary concerns include continued community reviatlization, programs with children and youth, women's mentoring and advocacy around housing, and homelessness, race relations and prisoners. CVEM's Peace and Justice Group regularly meets to study social issuses, and offer forums and other means of education and action. 

CVEM is a ministry initiated and led by Episcopalians, a place where parishioners can live on their spiritual gifts, where lay ministry is sought out and vaildated in service to the poor. The Lay Missioner is the only full-time staff person, leaving the hands-on running of programs to volunteers/stependiars directors by necessity and design.

The Board is composed of lay and clergy representatives from each parish in the convovation, including the Convocation Dean and two nearby parishes in Alabama.

CVEM is a creative and willing partner with the Diocese of Atlanta in a growing discernment about how each other convocation-based ministries might be planted in our diocese and beyond.

The area served includes seven parishes in west central Georgia and two parishes in nearby Alabama

The Ministry was designated as a Jubilee Center of the National Episcopal Church in 1989 was reaffirrmed in 2000 for its efforts in community development and empowering the poor

CVEM recognizes and supports the call to common mission with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
